لجنة التنسيق للدستور الغذائي في أمريكا اللاتينية والبحر الكاريبي - المنسق الإقليمي الاكوادور
في عام 1976، عقدت لجنة التنسيق لهيئة الدستور الغذائي في أمريكا اللاتينية، التي أسستها الدورة العاشرة لهيئة الدستور الغذائي في عام 1974، اجتماعها الأول في روما بحضور ثمانية بلدان من المنطقة. وقد تم تقديم مُقترح في دورتها الثالثة لتغيير اسم اللجنة إلى شكلها الحالي (لجنة التنسيق لهيئة الدستور الغذائي في أمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة البحر الكاريبي) لأن هذا المسمى يعكس بشكل أفضل عضوية المنطقة. وعليه، وافقت اللجنة التنفيذية في جلستها الحادية والثلاثين التي عُقدت عام 1984 على هذا التغيير وذلك بالنيابة عن هيئة الدستور الغذائي.
وتعتبر منطقة أمريكا اللاتينية والبحر الكاريبي جهة فاعلة هامة في إنتاج وتجارة الأغذية على المستوى العالمي. وتنتج المنطقة ما يكفي من الغذاء لإمداد نفسها والتصدير، حيث تسمح موارد المياه والأرض بالمزيد من الإنتاج.
وتتمتع المنطقة بثروة طبيعية هائلة، وصناعة زراعية مزدهرة، وقطاع زراعي عائلي يخدم سكانها. ويجب مواصلة تعزيز وتقوية سلامة الأغذية على مستوى جميع المناطق لضمان صحة المستهلكين والتجارة العادلة والمنصفة.
ويقع مقر المنسق، الإكوادور، في AGROCALIDAD وهي وكالة ملحقة بوزارة الزراعة والثروة الحيوانية. وتهدف إلى خلق تآزر بين دول المنطقة، لتقديم الدعم المتبادل من أجل التغلب على المشاكل الإقليمية ودراسة الحلول للتحديات المشتركة.
ويهدف المنسق كذلك إلى تعزيز التعاون بين البلدان وتعزيز مشاركة البلدان النامية في هيئة الدستور الغذائي ولجانها الفرعية.

March for food safety to take place in Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
A march has been organized for World Food Safety Day at the Universidad Deltaica Territorial "Francisco Tamayo" in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

World Food Safety Day event for Costa Rica’s Institute of Learning
Costa Rica’s National Learning Institute (INA) will hold a World Food Safety Day virtual event on 7 June with two guest speakers.

Cuban youth encouraged to use artistic expression in World Food Safety Day competition
The Matanzas territorial standardization offices in Cuba are holding a talent competition to engage young people for World Food Safety Day.
Anyone from Matanzas between the ages of 10 and 17 is invited to consider the theme of “health with safety” and to submit photographs, drawings, posters, poetry or audio-visual products that promote actions for safe, healthy eating and good hygiene practices in the community.

Mexico’s Universidad Ducens will host a Facebook live event for World Food Safety Day
The Agrifood Quality department at Universidad Ducens in Mexico is hosting a Facebook live discussion for World Food Safety Day, in collaboration with the Jesús Oviedo Pérez Technological School Foundation.

Food safety training for agricultural students in Peru

Caribbean On the Move for Safer Food, Better Health
