1999 年,食品法典委员会第 23 届会议设立了近东区域协调委员会,将近东地区(粮农组织系统)和东地中海地区(世卫组织系统)的国家聚集在一起。该委员会于 2001 年在埃及开罗召开了第一次会议。
目前的近东区域协调员设在马斯喀特的农业和渔业财富与水资源部食品安全和质量中心
通过担任近东区域协调员和粮农组织/世卫组织食品法典近东协调委员会主席,阿曼苏丹国拟实现以下目标:
- 加大力度,促进成员国和所有利益相关方(包括近东地区的生产者、消费者以及相关政府部门和非政府组织)有效参与食品法典进程。
- 继续建设和加强成员国和区域组织在国家一级的能力,促进有效参与国际食品标准的制定。
- 确保在全球层面制定食品法典标准时考虑到近东地区食品生产和消费的特殊性。
- 推动本地区成员国采用和使用食品法典标准作为国家食品监管决策的基础。这将对消费者健康产生积极影响,促进区域和国际层面的食品贸易,并将进一步促进本地区食品生产的发展,增强区域和国际竞争力。

Qatar to promote food safety in a two-week campaign

FAO and EOS Continue to support the Codex System in Egypt
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS), held a workshop on Codex on 16 December 2019 in Aswan Governorate, Egypt. Alexandria workshop maximises participation of all those involved in Codex in Egypt

Regional workshop to strengthen Codex work in Near East
Thirty-eight participants from Yemen, Sudan and Egypt are currently meeting in Cairo for a three-day workshop on Codex Alimentarius and its procedures. Organized by the SAFE Codex Initiative with the support of FAO and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), this training is part of the planned activities under the Codex Expert Working Group work plan, aimed at helping countries in the Arabic region define priorities on food safety and Codex.
