GENERAL INFORMATION
The 16th Session of the Codex Committee on Contaminants in Foods will take place in Utrecht, The Netherlands, from 18 to 21 April 2023 (physical plenary meeting) and 26 April 2023 (virtual report adoption).
Virtual and physical meetings of working groups, including a side event, will take place prior to CCCF (see below).
The plenary sessions will be webcasted in English, French and Spanish.
The provisional timetable is avilable to download (English only).

LETTER FROM THE CHAIRPERSON
A letter from the Chairperson of the Codex Committee on Contaminants in Foods, Sally Hoffer, addressing all Codex Members and Observers participating in the forthcoming session of CCCF and related activities, can be found here in English, French and Spanish. Codex Members and Observers are kindly invited to read the letter welcoming delegates to CCCF16.

REGISTRATION
Online Registration

All delegates participating in the plenary session should provide their information (names and addresses) through the Codex Online Registration System (ORS) system by accessing the Login on the Codex website, as soon as possible.

Access to the virtual working group meetings will be provided following registration to the Session.

Login and password for the online registration have been provided to all Codex Contact Points and Contact Points of Observer Organizations. If the login and password have not been received, please contact [email protected].

Broadcast
The physical working groups and plenary session are broadcasted on YouTube in listening mode in: English, French, Spanish. No registration is needed.

PRE-CCCF16 MEETINGS

General Information

In preparation for CCCF16, the following working groups will take place prior to the plenary session.
Working documents for these meetings are indicated in the Provisional Agenda for the corresponding agenda items. Any additional documents prepared by the Chairs of the Working Groups will be published on this site.

A tentative timetable is provided below. Exact length of each part subject to variation depending on the complexity of the discussion. Comfort breaks will be announced as necessary during the meeting.

Virtual meetings are in English only.

Physical meetings are provided with simultaneous interpretation in English, French and Spanish. Broadcasting is provided for physical meetings of working groups in English, French and Spanish.

  2. Follow-up to the outcomes of JECFA evaluations and joint FAO/WHO expert consultations (Agenda Item 15)

  5. Guidance on data analysis for development of maximum levels and for improved data collection (Agenda Item 12)
  6. Maximum levels for lead in certain food categories (Agenda Item 5)

  7. Physical meetings

    Monday, 17 April 2023, 14.30 – 18.00 CEST

  8. Sampling plans for total aflatoxins in certain cereals (Agenda Item 7)
  9. Guidance on data analysis for development of maximum levels and for improved data collection (Agenda Item 12, continuation from the virtual meeting)

SIDE EVENTS
A side event on Foresight: Looking into emerging issues in food and feed safety will take place on Tuesday, 18 April, from 10.30 – 12.30 CEST.
Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English, French, and Spanish.
Broadcasting is provided for physical meetings of working groups in English, French and Spanish.

FIRST-TIME DELEGATES
For delegates taking part in a Codex meeting for the first time, there will be a short introduction by Astrid Bulder on Tuesday 18 April, at 12.30 CEST in the Osram room (next to the plenary).

Codex60

During the week, the Codex Secretariat will be looking to talk to CCCF delegates, especially those who have been attending the Committee over many sessions. in order to capture recollections, anecdotes and then views on what is in store for the next 60 years.

The CAC46 magazine will have a special section dedicated to the history of each committee and we look forwarded to hearing from you in Utrecht.

The Codex Secretariat will also present two CCCF texts in their new format which includes improved readability but also industry standard referencing and the use of a digital object identifier (doi) to track how and where Codex texts are used across the internet.

JECFA Reports

The summary and full report of JECFA meetings, including other relevant documents such as residue and toxicological monographs, are available from the FAO and WHO websites to inform comments and discussion on maximum levels.

Working Documents

Documents for consideration by CCCF16 will be published on this page as soon as they become available. Conference Room Documents (CRDs) will be kept in original language. No printed copies of working documents will be made available for the plenary session.

Report

The draft report will be available in English, French and Spanish. Appendices will be available in English only. Both the report and appendices will be available online.
