Codex Committee on Contaminants in Foods

GENERAL INFORMATION
The 18th Session of the Codex Committee on Contaminants in Foods will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from 23 to 27 June 2025. The opening session will begin at 09.00 on Monday, 23 June 2025. Remote participation (verbal interventions via Zoom) will be possible for all plenary sessions; however, Members may wish to plan to have at least one in-person delegate attend the session to guarantee their participation in in-session working groups, for which remote participation will not be possible.
The Plenary Sessions of CCCF18 will be webcast live in English, French, and Spanish. Please scroll down to the section entitled “Webcasting” to access the links for each day of CCCF18. Members and Observers wishing to watch the webcast only do not need to register for the meeting.

Codex Members and Observers are kindly invited to read the letter welcoming delegates to CCCF18.

ONLINE PRE-REGISTRATION
All participants should provide information through the Codex Online Registration System (ORS) by accessing the link by 23 May 2025.
Access to the virtual working group meetings will be provided following registration for the session.
Only those attending CCCF18 in person or wishing to intervene via Zoom should register on the ORS. If you only intend to follow the webcast, please do not register on the ORS. You can access the link on this webpage, which will be made available right before the meeting.
Login and password for the online registration have been provided to all Codex Contact Points and Contact Points of Observer Organizations. If the login and password have not been received, please contact [email protected]

ON-SITE REGISTRATION
On-site registration (to collect your badges and other materials) will be open on Sunday, June 22, from 12.00 to 18.00 ICT and Monday, June 23, from 8.00 to 16.00 ICT.

PRE-CCCF18 MEETINGS

General Information
In preparation for CCCF18, the following working group meetings will take place prior to the plenary session.
Working documents for these meetings are indicated in the Provisional Agenda for the corresponding agenda items. Any additional documents prepared by the Chairs of the Working Groups will be published on this site.
Other working group meetings may take place as needed. Relevant information will be available on this page.
    Virtual meetings
    Monday, 16 June 2025, 13.00 – 16.00 CEST

    A tentative timetable is provided below. Exact length of each part subject to variation depending on the complexity of the discussion. Comfort breaks will be announced as necessary during the meeting.

  1. Review of Codex standards for contaminants (Agenda Item 19)

  2. Follow-up to the outcomes of JECFA evaluations and joint FAO/WHO expert consultations (Agenda Item 20)

  3. Priority list of contaminants for evaluation by JECFA (Agenda item 21)

  4. Review of the Code of practice for the reduction of aflatoxin B1 in raw materials and supplemental feedingstuffs for milk-producing animals (CXC 45-1997) (Agenda item 12)

  5. Review of the Code of practice to prevent and reduce pyrrolizidine alkaloid contamination in food and feed (CXC 74-2014) including the development of Guidance on sampling and analysis performance characteristics for the collection of data for submission to the GEMS/Food database. (Agenda item 10)
These virtual meetings will be conducted in English only. Links are being shared with CCCF18 registered delegates.

  3. Working group meeting: Sampling plans and numeric performance criteria for methods of analysis for total aflatoxins and ochratoxin A in certain spices (to be confirmed) (Agenda item 8)

  4. CCCF Chair’s activity: Inspiration from EWG chairs

  • Working group meeting: Development of a Code of practice for the prevention and reduction of cadmium contamination in foods (subject to availability of time) (Agenda Item 6)

  • Working group meeting: Introduction to the Guidance on data analysis for the development of maximum levels and for improved data collection (Agenda item 14)

  • Seminar for the first-time delegates
    A seminar for first-time delegates will be held on Sunday, 22 June, from 17:30 to 18:00 ICT. Delegates wishing to attend the session can send an email to [email protected]

    Working Documents
    Working documents will be published on this page as soon as they become available. They will be available in English, French, and Spanish. Some working papers may be available in original language only. Conference Room Documents (CRDs) will be kept in the original language. No printed copies of working documents will be made available for the plenary session.

    Report
    The draft report will be available in English, French, and Spanish, and the appendices in English only. They will not be printed but made available online.
