Codex and the SDGs

On September 25th 2015, countries adopted a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all. The full title of the goals is "Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" and the UN declaration recognizes that: eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development. PNG strengthens capacity on food safety

Representatives of government departments and bodies and the food industry attended a training course organised by the Department of Trade Commerce and Industry (DTCI) in Port Moresby with the support of the European Union. The training aims to strengthen national capacities for food safety and controls, in line with the international requirements. CCAFRICA was central in development of WHO :Safer Food For All document which is aimed to simplify application of the HACCP Principles in Small and Medium Enterprises(SMEs). CCAFRICA closely collaborated with WHO in the exercise.

Costa Rica & Belize: 2 is better than 1

Belize Internship in Costa Rica. Within the framework of twinning project of CCLAC and with the support of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), in November 2014, three officials visited Costa Rica from Belize for the purpose of perform an internship to receive a training on management and planning of Codex Alimentarius. Codex in the Cook Islands

The succcess of tourism in the Cook Islands has led to an increasing dependence on food imports. Harmonising national food safety standards with those of the Codex Alimentarius will enable the islands to better protect their communities and the tourist industry. The ministries of health, agriculture and fisheries combine to cover all aspects of food safety and quality from the field to the table. Watch the video.
