El 28 de julio de 2020, las delegaciones de 85 miembros y 40 observadores del Codex se reunieron por medios virtuales en lo que puede considerarse una prueba para el 43.° período de sesiones de la Comisión del Codex Alimentarius, previsto para septiembre de 2020. Dr Yayoi Tsujiyama: a source of learning for all those who deal with food safety, fair practices in food trade and negotiation
Following the recent meeting of the FAO/WHO Coordinating Committee for Asia (CCASIA), the Codex Secretariat learnt that Dr Yayoi Tsujiyama retired from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan at the beginning of October. Dr. Tsujiyama, has long been involved in many multilateral food safety fora including Codex, serving as Vice-Chairperson of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) from 2014-2017 and as Coordinator for CCASIA from 2011 to 2014.

Codex adopts code of practice to reduce exposure to contaminants in refined oils
The COP is intended to provide guidance to reduce the formation of 3-MCPDE and GE in refined oils and food products made with these oils by offering good management practices for application by national authorities, producers, manufacturers and other relevant bodies.
The forty-second Codex Alimentarius Commission held in Geneva, Switzerland 8-12 July 2019, adopted a Code of Practice (COP) for the reduction of 3-Monochloropropane-1,2- diol esters (3-MCPDE) and Glycidyl Esters (GE) in refined oils and food products made with refined oils.
