The Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS) will celebrate World Food Safety Day 2024 in the sidelines of the third for the Egyptian Codex Committee that it will be held under title “Food safety: prepare for the unexpected” 

The Egyptian Codex Committee is considered, according to its structure, leadership and composition, to be a high-level committee whose main role is to provide strategic management and high-level coordination at the national, regional and international levels on matters related to the Codex. The Committee advises the Egyptian government on the implications of various issues related to the work undertaken by the Codex Alimentarius Commission and its committees.

Participating in the meeting will be:

1. Mr Steve Wearne - Chairman of Codex (virtually)
2. Dr Eva Al zein (Regional office - WHO) 
3. Dr Khalid Al Zahrani (Regional Coordinator for the Coordinating Committee for the Near East)
4. Codex Contact Points from the United Arab Emirates and Oman
5. A representative of  the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries
6. A representative of Singapore (virtually)

The main topic in this meeting is “New food sources” and aims to explore "What can be provided by the countries of the Near East Region to the project of the new food and new production systems of the Codex Alimentarius".
