World Health Day 2025 - Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures

07/04/2025

On 7 April 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) launches its "Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures" campaign for World Health Day, spotlighting maternal and newborn health, with a sharp focus on nutrition. This year’s initiative urges governments, health communities, and stakeholders to intensify efforts to end preventable maternal and newborn deaths while prioritizing women’s long-term well-being. The campaign aligns with global health goals, emphasizing the critical role of nutrition in early life—a focus shared by Codex.

Healthy beginnings rely on access to safe, nutritious food, a cornerstone of Codex’s mission. By addressing disparities in healthcare and nutrition, World Health Day 2025 aims to foster hopeful futures for mothers and babies worldwide. Codex remains committed to this vision, reinforcing the link between food safety, nutrition, and global health.

After all, good nutrition is our first defence against disease and our source of energy to live and be active. Codex standards, guidelines and codes of practice and its overall work contribute to ensuring foods are nutritionally safe, while strengthening food safety systems and reducing the burden of foodborne disease.
