World Food Safety Day / Uniting for Safe Food: Pakistan Marks the Day with a National Dialogue on Food Safety

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), the Islamabad Food Authority, and the National Alliance for Safe Food (NAFS) collaborated to lead Pakistan's national celebration of World Food Safety Day 2025 in Islamabad with the theme of "Food Safety: Science in Action."
Over 100 guests from government ministries, provincial governments, food industries, and leading academic institutions attended the event. Attendees included representatives from Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), National Agricultural Research Center (NARC), the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the Ministry of Planning Development and Special Initiatives, Provincial Food Safety, and Quality Authorities from Punjab, Sindh and other provinces. During the event, food safety hazards and their impacts on public health were discussed. As a result, initiatives for reforms to the food system and pledges were made for a food system based on science that provides safe and nutritious food for all in Pakistan.
