Romania celebrated World Food Safety Day 2026 with the seventh edition of the “Youth and Food Safety – PolySafeFood” Competition, an official satellite event held under the theme “From challenges to solutions – Safe food everywhere.”

The competition invited middle school, high school and university students to explore key food safety issues and propose innovative solutions. A total of 218 participants from 17 counties submitted scientific posters and short video presentations. The best projects advanced to a live event held on 28 May 2026. Representatives from food industry companies in Western Romania and Austria sponsored and were preseent at the competition, providing  prizes for the winners. 

Students presented ideas on topics including smart packaging and sustainable food additives, demonstrating creativity and scientific knowledge. The event also featured presentations from food industry experts, who highlighted modern food safety practices and the importance of training future specialists.
