This year 2022, HAN commenced a week of celebrations on 1 June with a visit to a farm. “It is our belief that 40-50% of food-related problems occur between the farm, transportation, storage and handling,” a spokesperson said.

Subsequent activities included:

Day 2 - a visit to a logistics company.

Day 3 – a visit to a public secondary school, where students were sensitized on the importance of hygiene and food safety.

Day 4 - a market visit.

Day 5 - a live podcast.

Day 6 - a food safety walk, where the public were sensitized and flyers were distributed.

Day 7 – a food safety symposium.

According to the organization, “Every life matters, and our campaign in sensitizing, conducting seminars, and food safety workshops across Nigeria is continuing and will not stop after 7 June. Our vision 2030, is to save as many lives as possible, and make Nigeria’s food chain the ‘Safest in Africa’.”

Since the year 2000, HACCP Academy Nigeria (HAN), and its parent company James Marsh & Associates, has embarked on a sensitization campaign in markets, schools, churches, and mosques.
