Food Safety in Europe and Central Asia: Past, present and future

The FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia and the WHO Regional Office for Europe will present a World Food Safety Day webinar under the title “Food Safety in Europe and Central Asia: Past, present and future” on Friday, 10 June. The event will take place live on Zoom in English and Russian.

Recognizing this year’s World Food Safety Day theme, “Safer food, better health" the event will highlight the vital role of food safety in saving lives of millions, and ensuring fair trade all over the world. The panel will talk about historical events which influenced early food control activities and led to critical progress in food safety management; priorities in today’s world for public and private actors to ensure the safety of food produced and consumed, and how these priorities are being addressed; and finally, the challenges and opportunities the future holds for food safety assurance.

The webinar is targeting all the actors in the food chain, particularly, policy-makers and food safety authorities in the Member Countries in the region, as well as food producers and associations, non-governmental organizations, academia, and consumer groups.
