Within the framework of the activities planned in Colombia to commemorate World Food Safety Day, and aiming to achieve the objectives of the work plan for the Action to Support the Implementation of Codex Texts on AMR (ACT) project, dissemination and awareness-raising activities about the importance of food safety were carried out for the general public and universities.

Activities aimed to raise awareness among students in agricultural science programmes about their professional responsibility and role in ensuring food safety, understanding it as a collective right. Organizers also aimed to generate awareness among producers to recognize their role and value productive practices as a fundamental link in ensuring food safety.

The FAO office in Colombia was involved in the national World Food Safety Day activities, including the ACT project team. As such, FAO in Colombia used their social media channels to disseminate key World Food Safety Day messages and to promote the regional multi-agency webinar that took place on 11 June.
