USA and Australia to host a marathon Facebook live event for World Food Safety Day!

06/06/2021

Environmental Health Australia (EHA) and the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) in the USA have teamed up to host a 24-hour live event for World Food Safety Day. “Have you ever wondered what food safety looks like in other countries?” they are asking prospective viewers – and for those who have, there will be answers from all over the world.

The Facebook live event will kick off with an opening address from Frank Yiannas, Deputy Commissioner for Food Policy and Response at the Food and Drug Administration of the United States of America. Following that, a series of short conversations with food safety regulators from around the world will offer “a peek into how we are keeping retail food safe for the global community.”

The first half of the event will start at 10:00 Brisbane time (00:00 GMT) and will be hosted by EHA on their Facebook page. It will involve regulators from a variety of countries in the eastern hemisphere. They will then hand over to NEHA, who will host discussions with stakeholders from the western hemisphere. The events will be recorded and available for viewing on both Facebook pages. Countries involved include Papua New Guinea, Iran, the United States of America and Egypt.
