World Food Safety Day celebrations to be included in Senegalese gastronomic event

05/06/2023

In Diamniadio, Senegal, the AFRICA MiTH forum will celebrate World Food Safety Day on 5 June in their “gastronomy pavilion” with the message that promoting food safety can change things: “it is everyone’s business”.

The event will seek to increase public awareness about food safety and encourage people to act to prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks, thus contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity, agricultural production, access to markets, tourism and sustainable production, according to organizers.

The day of activities will include expert contributions and roundtable discussions. There will also be Masterclass Show Cooking workshops led by chefs and influencers. These workshops aim to celebrate Senegalese food culture and traditions using locally sourced produce to promote a diverse and nutritious diet. This will also be an opportunity for attendees to learn about food products and where they come from.

The day will conclude with a tasting session entitled “The art of living the Senegalese way”.

Date:    5 June
Time:    all-day event
