World Food Safety Day/ Activities in Ukraine
On 7 June 2024, WHO Ukraine in cooperation with FAO Ukraine, Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Public Health Center of Ukraine and the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection held a webinar on food safety for the students of public health, veterinary studies, food safety, food technology faculties, as well as for general public.
Over 821 registered to take part and 480 attended the two-hour online gathering to learn from national and international food safety experts as well as national authorities and to ask questions during the question and answer session.
The following topics were discussed during the webinar:
- seasonal foodborne illnesses and prevention rules
- consumer actions in case of food poisoning
- quality and safety of water as a source of life
- trans fatty acids in food: risk and regulation
- presentation of the WHO FEEDcities project
In addition, WHO Ukraine translated into Ukrainian the mythbusters series, social media cards jointly prepared by FAO and WHO for the campaign’s awareness raising activities and shared them on social media channels.
