#KeepFoodSafe on TikTok

07/06/2021

For World Food Safety Day (7 June 2021), WHO and FAO are jointly launching a #KeepFoodSafe challenge on TikTok to educate TikTok generation about safe food handling behaviours.

If you love food, join the #KeepFoodSafe challenge! All you have to do is to ‘duet’ with WHO/FAO videos showing how you use one of the keys.

Each year, 1 in 10 people get sick from unsafe food. While food safety is a shared responsibility, individual consumers and food handlers play a huge role in preventing foodborne diseases. The WHO “Five keys to safer food” messages were therefore developed, and validated by an independent body of international scientists, to empower all consumers worldwide with a simple and easy-to-use set of actions to prevent foodborne diseases.

The core messages of the Five keys to safer food are:

1) keep clean

2) separate raw and cooked

3) cook thoroughly

4) keep food at safe temperatures and

5) use safe water and raw materials.

Follow FAO (@fao) and WHO (@who) TikTok accounts on 7 June to take part.
