Japan’s Food Safety Commission will raise awareness about World Food Safety Day

07/06/2022

Due to the importance of World Food Safety Day, the Food Safety Commission of Japan (FSC) will participate in this year’s celebrations by implementing the following initiatives to raise awareness of food safety among people of all ages, and to encourage them to take action to reduce the risk of foodborne illness.

Initiatives of the Food Safety Committee:

1.  Circulation of a video message from the Chairperson of the Food Safety Commission, Shigeki Yamamoto, calling for participation in World Food Safety Day activities

2. Publication on 7 June of “Kids’ Box”, the FSC’s reading material for primary school students

3. Tweets and Facebook posts on food safety on 7 June.

In order to make sure everyone knows who is involved in food safety and how, and to celebrate each other around World Food Safety Day on 7 June, the FSC is asking people to share their initiatives and food safety-related content on Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #WorldFoodSafetyDay.

The Commission also encourages everyone to watch Yamamoto’s video and to transmit and share it on 7 June and to retweet any #WorldFoodSafetyDay messages they see, to try and get the hashtag trending on Twitter.
