World Food Safety Day / ACT in Mongolia
In Mongolia, the Action to support implementation of Codex AMR texts (ACT) project supported national celebrations of World Food Safety Day in several ways. On 20 May, the ACT team in the country conducted training on Codex and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) for students at the Food Technology Institute. They delivered the presentations on World Food Safety Day, the Codex Alimentarius Commission, AMR and antimicrobial use (AMU) to an audience of 58. A relevant news article can be found below.
On 2 June, the ACT team organized a World Food Safety Day event in collaboration with FAO Mongolia and food safety-related projects, and on 9 June, on behalf of FAO Mongolia, the ACT coordinator for Mongolia, Enkhtur Byakharjav, participated in the Scientific Conference for Food Safety, which was organized by the National Reference Laboratory for Food Safety (NRLFS). Byakharjav delivered a presentation on Food Safety: science in action.
During the World Food Safety Day events, the ACT project disseminated copies of the Foodborne antimicrobial resistance: Compendium of Codex standards, information related to food safety and veterinary drug residues, and posters on AMR and AMU.
