On World Food Safety Day, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) joined international organizations dedicated to food safety in commemorating the Day under the theme "Food Safety: Science in Action."

This year's theme highlighted how scientific knowledge is crucial for preventing foodborne illnesses and enhancing overall food safety. From farm to fork, science underpins every stage of the food chain—it helps identify risks, develop safety measures, and build consumer trust.

With support from the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the SFDA remains committed to ensuring food safety through science-based measures, strict monitoring systems, and rapid response, all in line with the theme “Food Safety: Science in Action.”

As part of its awareness efforts for World Food Safety Day, the SFDA organized several educational activities. These included two lectures for students at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, titled "Your Food is Safe" and "Poisoning Detection Methods Using Modern Biotechnology." These sessions aimed to deepen students' understanding of food safety and the role of biotechnology in detecting contamination. The SFDA also released social media posts and visuals highlighting the role of science in food safety.

Food safety is a shared responsibility and science is its foundation. The SFDA continues to leverage scientific evidence to improve food safety and protect public health.
