15/07/2025

The Healthy Food Practices research group (PRAS) at the Faculty of Nutrition/UFF, the Faculty of Nutrition at Anhanguera Niterói University, the Health Surveillance Department and the Economic Development Department of Niterói City Hall collaborated on a World Food Safety Day event about “health precautions when buying and handling food at home: what you need to know!”

The event aimed to impart “good practices to ensure safer and healthier food at home”, including health precautions when purchasing, storing and preparing food at home. A sanitarian from Niterói Health Surveillance gave an introduction to the importance of sanitary care in food handling. Afterwards, two lecturers and researchers presented data on the most common causes of foodborne illnesses and their impact on health, the most common mistakes made at home and preventative measures.

This event is a partnership between the PRAS - Healthy Food Practices research group at the Faculty of Nutrition/UFF, the Faculty of Nutrition at Anhanguera Niterói University, the Health Surveillance Department and the Economic Development Department of Niterói City Hall, RJ, Brazil.
