Global Workshop on Impact Assessment and Monitoring and Evaluation of Farmer Field School programmes

17/09/2018

Bangkok, Thailand, 17-20 September 2018

A total of thirty-three participants (9 women) attended the Global Workshop on Impact Assessment and Monitoring and Evaluation of Farmer Field School programmes held from 17-20 September 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The workshop, jointly organized by FAO AGP, the Asia Regional IPM/Pesticide Risk Reduction Programme and partner regional civil society organization Thai Education Foundation brought together FFS practitioners from around the world to review and update the Impact Assessment framework and toolbox for FFS programmes.

Participants represented national governments, private sector, civil society organization (CSO) partners and FAO staff from 24 countries and various regions (i.e., Asia and the Pacific, Latin America, Near East, and Africa) in the world. Field visits were carried out to agroecology and pesticide risk awareness raising activities implemented by the Pathumthani Department of Nonformal Education and interactions with members of the government’s Young Smart Farmers organization in Ayutthaya province were held prior to plenary and workshop sessions.

A detailed report on the workshop will be prepared and posted on the Global FFS and the Asia Regional IPM/Pesticide Risk Reduction Programme websites by end-October. Workshop outputs will be used as inputs for the draft toolkit for Monitoring and Evaluation of FFS programmes planned to be available in the last quarter of 2018.
