Webinar series: Bridging knowledge and action: Climate change in farmer field school
Session 2: Equipping farmers for climate action: key concepts and tools for FFS
This webinar is part of a series on Farmer Field Schools (FFS) and Climate Change (CC). The first session introduced climate change policies, emphasizing their impact on smallholder farming communities, using the outcomes of COP 29 as a reference point.
In this second webinar, the focus will be on integrating climate change more effectively into FFS activities, enabling smallholder farmers to both mitigate and adapt to its effects. To achieve this, we will first define key climate change concepts and examine its major impacts on agricultural production systems.
The session will also explore farmers' existing knowledge and practices in adapting to climate change, mitigating its effects, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Finally, we will share practical tools and approaches to help FFS practitioners incorporate climate change considerations into field activities. Participants will gain insights into methodologies and resources used by leading international organizations, fostering knowledge exchange and practical strategies.
Throughout the webinar, we will address the following key questions:
-
What do farmers need to know about climate change to take action?
-
What do farmers already understand about climate change?
-
How can climate change concepts be effectively discussed with small-scale producers?
Who Should Attend:
FFS field practitioners (master trainers and facilitators), FFS project coordinators, program managers, researchers, climate change experts, resources partners and all stakeholders committed to sustainable agricultural development.
