Attempts were made to collect informations on different types of fishing crafts operated from relevant reports and documents and also by undertaking field trips.
Informations on fishing crafts in the country are rather sketchy. Very limited studies have been carried out by few workers e.g., Ahmed (1954), Karim (1978), Anonymous (1985), ARG (1986), BCAS (1989), Moula et al. (1993), CIDA (1993) and FRI (1994) on the use of the several crafts. Eleven different types of fishing crafts are used by the fishermen in the inland water of this country. The crafts so far recorded have been shown in the Table 6.
