Safety at sea training of fisherfolk continues in Dominica

Thirty participants, including four women, successfully completed a five day Basic Fishermen Training, including safety at sea, in Rousseau, Dominica. The training was facilitated by the Ministry of Blue and Green Economy, Agriculture and National Food Security . In addition, twenty-eight fishers including four women, received a 2-day training in Radio Communications/ use of VHF handhelds, as part of the Safety at Sea programme. A retired sergeant of the Dominica Marine Unit with 36 years of service and trained by the Canadian and American Navy led the sessions. The safety at Sea training was supported by the FAO-GEF Climate Change Adaptation in the Eastern Caribbean Fisheries Sector project (CC4Fish).
