Fisheries management decisions can have direct or indirect impacts on the safety of fishers. In this special issue of the Journal of Agromedecine, Florence Poulain, Fisheries and Aquaculture Division, Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, Rome, Italy, highlights some of the challenges of safety and health in fishing and how important it is to integrate safety into fisheries management decision-making and policies.
