This paper describes the various factors, providing specific examples, which have contributed to the current disease problems faced by aquaculture production.
Failure to meet market requirements in terms quality and safety will often result in rejections of consignments and food loss and waste.
This work focuses on antibiotics misuse and the concomitant threat of resistance development, considering this topic to be a public health concern that affects the population worldwide. 
Included is guidance for those involved in microfinance programmes to ensure consideration of socio-economic and gender issues when developing microfinance programmes, designing national policies, and disaggregating microfinance markets to learn more about clients.
Global and regional aquaculture trends are evaluated, and projections, including opportunities, constraints and strategies for achieving the targets presented, are discussed.
