Trade of agricultural commodities 2005–2021

Trade is a vital part of agrifood systems, as it ensures the flow of agricultural commodities across the globe and especially to countries that may not produce enough of these commodities to meet domestic demand. The variability of international prices, which are affected by the fundamentals of supply and demand, makes trade flows susceptible to significant changes from year to year.

The FAOSTAT Trade data domain disseminates statistics on the international trade of food and agricultural products for the period of 1961–2021. The food and agricultural trade datasets are collected, processed and disseminated by FAO according to the standard international merchandise trade statistics methodology

The latest update in FAOSTAT looks at the overall trade of agricultural products, food excluding fish and the main commodity groups for the period 2005–2021.
