Training of trainers workshop on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Indicator 2.a.1 ‘‘Agriculture Orientation Index (AOI) for Government Expenditures’’

27/03/2018

27-28 March 2018 Turin, Italy.

As custodian agency of SDG indicator 2.a.1, FAO is organizing a training-of-trainers workshop at the International Labour Organization (ILO) Training Centre in Turin.

SDG indicator 2.a.1 - the Agriculture Orientation Index (AOI) for Government Expenditures – is one of the 21 SDG Indicators under FAO custodianship. It contributes to the monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goal 2, to “End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.” In particular, it helps monitor Target 2.a, which aims to “increase investment, including through enhanced international cooperation, in rural infrastructure, agricultural research and extension services, technology development and plant and livestock gene banks in order to enhance agricultural productive capacity in developing countries, in particular least developed countries.”

SDG Indicator 2.a.1 compares the central government’s contribution to agriculture relative to the sector’s contribution to the economy.

The overall goal of the workshop is to train national experts, who will train others in their countries and regions.
