Expert group meeting on cost of production and prices

Following the 21st African Commission on Agriculture Statistics (AFCAS) in 2009, FAO and International Food Policy Research Institute were invited to conduct a study of country experiences in collecting and compiling cost of production statistics and agricultural price statistics and document these experiences.
Country case studies were carried out in Mali, Zambia and Ethiopia. The description and assessment of country practices and experience on cost of production surveys were synthesized into a summary report with recommendations and options for future work. The results derived from the country experiences led to the organization of an Expert Group Meeting on Cost of Production (CoP) and Price Statistics. Country delegates were invited from African countries and also from Asia, Latin America and North America.
