Food security and nutrition statistics - Data

FAO generates theoretically grounded and statistically sound food security indicators and food and nutrient consumption statistics that are compiled and publicly disseminated through digital platforms such as FAOSTAT and the United Nations Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) database.

The FIES microdata is also publicly available for download at the Food and Agriculture Microdata Catalogue.

FAOSTAT domains relating to food security and nutrition statistics include the series of SDG indicators 2.1.1 (prevalence of undernourishment) and 2.1.2 (prevalence of moderate or severe food insecurity based on the FIES), the suite of Food Security Indicators, as well as domains relating to food and nutrient consumption derived from the analysis of Household Consumption and Expenditure Surveys.
