Country-based activities
Outcome 2 of the Mainstreaming food loss reduction initiatives for smallholders in food deficit areas project aims at "Improved handling and storage options within the grains and pulses value chains are benefiting smallholder farmers in pilot countries: Burkina Faso, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)".
This section of the website describes and documents the different steps of project implementation in the three countries according to the below listed activities.
1) Identification of critical points for food loss reduction in selected agri-food supply chains and formulation of viable solutions based on national level loss analysis related to:
- maize, sorghum, cowpea (Burkina Faso) - Report in French

- maize, oilseeds, beans (Uganda) - Report in English
2) Developing and strengthening capacity of multi-stakeholder actors to address the main key loss points. The critical loss points identified in the country analysis were validated in national fora, and selected interventions planned and implemented based on those critical points.
