Community of Practice on Food Loss Reduction

DRIVING FOOD LOSS AND WASTE REDUCTION THROUGH INNOVATION

10/02/2021 - 10/02/2021

CFS 47 - Online side event (13:00 – 14:15 CET)

Food loss and food waste (FLW) are symptoms of larger inefficiencies in agri-food systems. Food losses, in particular, have negative impacts on food security, as well as on economic development and environmental sustainability. Innovation plays a critical role in stepping up the fight against FLW, toward addressing agri-food systems transformation.

This event will discuss technological and digital innovations in food loss reduction as well as the role of data-driven solutions in helping to reduce food loss, toward informing policy and decision making in transforming agri-food systems. Requirements for further unlocking the potential of innovation to scale up food loss reduction will also be discussed.
