Digital Briefing for Members of Parliament on Sustainable Food Systems in Times of Global Crises

Members of the European Parliamentary Alliance against Hunger and Malnutrition are gathering on 13 July to discuss sustainable food systems in times of crises.
In the Parliamentary briefing, jointly organized by FAO, and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Commission (DG DEVCO) and hosted by MEP and Member of the Alliance Marlene Mortler, Members of Parliament will discuss how they can contribute to a global food system transformation using key international moments to engage on the to the UN Food Systems Summit.
The event will be kicked off by a presentation by Anika Reinbott Policy Adviser, Sector Project "Agricultural Policy and Food Security”, GIZ. Speakers will then discuss potential entry points for action at the key international fora in the coming months for food and nutrition security. Their interventions will be followed by a reaction from the Director of the WFP Office to the European Union, Alzira Ferreira. In its closing remarks, FAO Brussels Director Rodrigo de Lapuerta, will highlight the need to adopt a systematic approach in the recovery response - needing to build back better and greener – to make sure that our food systems become more sustainable, resilient and inclusive.
