Summary:

• established a National Commission to regulate food safety in 2010, the decision of the Prime Minister . • National Committee for Food Safety is the regulatory body responsible for food safety in Yemen, which is composed of all those involved in the food safety system and those responsible for the food safety system . The Committee aims to achieve the following : 1- Taking care of the consumer as a real interested of the alimentary enactments, the food production and the audit systems on the food. 2- Organizing and unifying of all the activities and the executive decrees related to the food safety. 3- Creation of strong relationship between all the interested bodies and individuals in Yemen and the international organization of Codex. There are several specifications for the Yemeni genetically modified foods are working out. We are also attributes of the Codex Alimentarius Commission for genetically modified foods . Also work with the Gulf states as a member of Yemen in the Gulf Standardization Organization . Yemen is a member of the Gulf Standardization and regulation of genetically modified food takes place on the level of the Gulf countries and conducts safety assessment by the National Commission to regulate food safety in consultation with all relevant authorities and include estimates of studies on the potential for adverse effects and food allergies .
