The Committee recommended amended MRLsfor closantel in sheep and new MRLs for cattle. Therecommendations for cattle are based on the studies in which an oral doseof closantel of 10 mg per kg of body weight and an intramuscular dose of2.5mg per kg of body weight were given and pid=63155; from these the Committeecalculated that the theoretical maximum daily intake of closantel residuesat 42 days withdrawal time would be below the AD1 of 1.8mg for a 60-kgperson. It should be noted that the manufacturer recommends an oral doseof 5 mg per kg of body weight for cattle. Residues from such an oral dosewill be lower.
