Estudios temáticos
Como parte de la preparación del Estado de los Recursos Genéticos Forestales en el Mundo, se preparó una serie de estudios temáticos bajo la coordinación general de la FAO. Los objetivos de estos estudios temáticos fueron revisar el conocimiento y la experiencia disponibles para abordar las cuestiones y tendencias clave identificadas, y determinar las medidas necesarias, incluidas las prioridades y necesidades de investigación. Los estudios temáticos se prepararon en estrecha colaboración con Bioversity International, el Centro Mundial de Agrosilvicultura y un enorme grupo de científicos y expertos de todo el mundo. Los principales resultados de los siete estudios temáticos se publicaron también en un número especial de Forest Ecology and Management (de acceso libre).
Genetic considerations in ecosystem restoration using native tree species
This study reviews the role of genetic considerations in a wide range of ecosystem restoration activities involving trees. It evaluates how different approaches take, or could take, genetic aspects into account, thereby leading to the identification and selection of the most appropriate methods. The study includes a review and syntheses of experience and results, an analysis of successes and failures in various systems, and definitions of best practices including genetic aspects. It also identifies knowledge gaps and needs for further research and development efforts.

Global Forest Genetic Resources: Taking Stock
