Call for National Focal Points on forest genetic resources

A Circular State Letter (available in ArabicEnglishFrenchRussian and Spanish) has been sent to Members and observers summarizing the expected contributions and inputs to the work of the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture.

Concerning forest genetic resources, countries are invited to review the list of National Focal Points for correctness and to update the nominations, as appropriate, by 31 August 2019. The official nominations for a National Focal Point on forest genetic resources (and possible alternates) should be sent to the following email address: [email protected].

The National Focal Points are invited to coordinate the preparation of country reports for The Second Report on the State of the World’s Forest Genetic Resources, and submit them to FAO by 30 June 2020. By the same date, regional networks on forest genetic resources and relevant international organizations are invited to submit reports on their contributions to the implementation of the Global Plan of Action on the Conservation, Sustainable Use and Development of Forest Genetic Resources.

Further information on the reporting process will be communicated directly to the National Focal Points on forest genetic resources as well as to relevant networks and international organizations.
