Evaluation of the economic and social value of goods and services provided by Mediterranean forest ecosystems

Activities scheduled for the Component 2 include the following main actions:

  1. Review and synthesis of existing works on the topic (in and outside the Mediterranean region), through a literature review and experts consultation;
  2. Prospective study on the economic and social value of goods and services in 4/5 pilot sites (based on contrasted scenarios of climate change impacts and management choices, and with an analysis of costs and benefits distribution);
  3. Capitalization of results and methodological outcomes at regional level;
  4. Regional workshop to share experiences among countries and stakeholders, and to discuss valuation approaches and the use of results.

The pilot sites selected during the Steering Committee of Beirut on June 6, 2013 for Component 1 are the following:

  • Lebanon: Jabal Moussa
  • Morocco: Maarmora
  • Tunisia:
