Overview

This event will highlight Indonesia's forest policies through the launch of The State of Indonesia`s Forests 2024 report and present SIMONTANA, Indonesia's national forest monitoring system.

The State of Indonesia's Forests (SOIFO) 2024 report will focus on the sustainability of Indonesia's forest ecosystems. This SOIFO highlights the policies, practices, and technical advancements that support Indonesia's forest monitoring and management.

Established by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry, SIMONTANA is the nation's forest monitoring system.

The system manages reliable, up-to-date and transparent forest resource data and accurate information about forest dynamics, forest changes and land cover.


Objectives

  • Launch of The State of Indonesia's Forests 2024 report.
  • Sharing knowledge on a forest national monitoring system through SIMONTANA as the main supporting tool to achieving forest sustainability and climate resilience.
  • Encouraging potential international collaborations among FAO member countries to support progress towards sustainable forest management.
