Thomas Mvou Biyogo
Français : Depuis janvier 2011 et dans sa fonction de Point Focal du Ministère des Eaux et Forêts auprès du projet GCP/RAF/441/GER au Gabon, Thomas Mvou Biyogo assiste le coordonnateur national de la FAO à toutes les activités qu’il entreprend pour la bonne marche du projet, entre autres, l’élaboration des programmes de travail, la rédaction des rapports de réunion ou des missions de terrain. Il rend compte à la Direction Générale des Industries, commerce du Bois et de la valorisation des Produits Forestiers qui a en charge la valorisation des Produits Forestiers Autres que le Bois d’œuvre (appellation gabonaise des PFNL).
Avant la mise en place du nouvel organigramme du ministère créant la nouvelle Direction en charge des PFNL, Thomas Mvou Biyogo participait jusqu’au mois de juillet 2011 à divers travaux en commission, notamment pour la préparation de la révision du code forestier, la mise en œuvre du projet pour la valorisation des essences peu connues et des produits forestiers non ligneux. Il a également participé à des réflexions sur la valorisation de la résine d’okoumé au Gabon avec l’Institut de recherche en Pharmacie et médecine Traditionnelle (IPHAMETRA). De même, il a travaillé au Cabinet de la première Dame de la République pour la valorisation de l’huile de moabi et la résine d’okoumé.
Après ses études en Ingénierie des Eaux et Forêts, Thomas Mvou Biyogo a occupé pendant longtemps le poste de chef de cantonnement des Eaux et Forêts dans plusieurs régions du Gabon (Haut Ogooué, Ogooué Lolo, Moyen Ogooué et Estuaire). En 2010, il a complété sa formation universitaire avec un Diplôme de Master en sciences et technologie, option gestion environnementale des écosystèmes et forêts tropicales obtenu à Agroparistech de Montpellier, France.
English: Since January 2011 and in his capacity as Focal point of the Ministry for Forests and Water for the project GCP/RAF/441/GER in Gabon, Thomas supports the national project coordinator in all operational tasks e.g. drafting of work plans, writing of reports and implementing activities in the two pilot sites of the project. Thomas reports about the project’s activities to the General Directorate for Industries, Timber trade and Valorization of Forest Products that is responsible for the valorization of forest products other than wood (Gabonese term for non-wood forest products).
Until the establishment of the new ministerial organigram in July 2011,Thomas was a member of different working groups e.g. for the preparatory works for the forestry code review, the implementation of a project for the better use of less known timber species and non-wood forest products. In addition, he was part of a group that together with the Research Institute for Pharmacy and Traditional Medicine (IPHAMETRA) reflected on an enhanced use of okoumé/ angouma resin in Gabon. Thomas was as well part of the First Lady’s Cabinet for the valorization of moabi oil and okoumé/ angouma resin.
After having completed his studies in forest and water engineering, Thomas worked for a long period as the ministry’s head of canton in several regions of Gabon (Haut Ogooué, Ogooué Lolo, Moyen Ogooué and Estuaire). In 2010, he completed his academic career with a master of sciences and technology, with specialization in environmental management of ecosystems and tropical forests from the Agroparistech in Montpellier, France.
