Global Forum on Food Security and Nutrition (FSN Forum)

A monitoring event is planned to be organized during the October 2021 Plenary Session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) to share experiences and good practices in the use and application of two sets of policy recommendations: "Food Security and Climate Change" and "Water for Food Security and Nutrition". The CFS invites stakeholders to provide input on their experiences in using and applying any of these policy recommendations.

This Call for Action aims to capture and recognise the commitment, responsibility, and efforts of agricultural stakeholders in addressing child labour in agriculture, and to build momentum towards more concerted action at local, national and global level.

FAO is developing guidance on how to measure the contribution of food- and agriculture private actors to the achievement of the SDGs in a consistent manner and in alignment with countries’ needs on monitoring the attainment of the SDG agenda. With this online consultation, the Office of the Chief Statistician of FAO aims to gather feedback on the draft indicators and guideline that have been developed in this context.

This webinar was held as an input into the 2021 edition ofThe State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World. The webinar explored what it takes to address key drivers of food insecurity and malnutrition with coherent and complementary solutions that will lead to affordable healthy diets, sustainably and inclusively.   

The inter-Agency writing team of the 2021 edition of The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI) invites you to share best practices and lessons learned in what it takes – in very practical and innovative ways – to transform food systems for better access to nutritious foods and affordable healthy diets.

During its 46th Plenary Session (14-18 October 2019), the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) adopted its four-year Programme of Work (MYPoW 2020-2023), which includes a request to the High-Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (CFS-HLPE) to produce a report on “Data collection and analysis tools” for food security and nutrition, to be presented at the 50th Plenary session of the CFS in October 2022. To implement this CFS request, the HLPE is launching an open e-consultation to seek views and comments on the scope and building blocks of the report.

During its 46th Plenary Session (14 – 18 October 2019), the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS) requested its High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE) to produce a report entitled “Promoting youth engagement and employment in agriculture and food systems”. The report will be presented at CFS 48th Plenary session in October 2021. As part of the process of elaboration of its reports, the HLPE is organizing a consultation to seek inputs, suggestions, and comments on the present preliminary V0 draft. 

Public School Food Procurement can be an effective tool for improving the nutrition of schoolchildren and to integrate local producers into school food programmes. The aim of this discussion is to exchange experiences and lessons learned among experts of the region, as well as to identify good practices, challenges and barriers to an effective public school food procurement.

We invite you to share your experience with the use of early warning systems, their pros and cons, features and gaps. In addition, we would like to learn from your experiences in integrating early warning data into policy work and the challenges faced along the way.

To facilitate the implementation of the United Nations Decade of Family Farming in the Near East and North Africa region, a Regional Action Plan is being developed in open consultation with strategic partners and relevant stakeholders.
