Global Forum on Food Security and Nutrition (FSN Forum)

With this online discussion, we would like to invite you to reflect on the nexus between extreme poverty and food insecurity.
While there is little doubt that hunger and poverty are closely linked, policies and interventions addressing hunger and extreme poverty are often sector-specific and look at either of the two problems.

During its 43^rd Plenary Session (17-21 October 2016), the CFS requested the HLPE to produce a report on “Multistakeholder Partnerships to Finance and Improve Food Security and Nutrition in the Framework of the 2030 Agenda” to be presented at CFS45 Plenary session in October 2018.

As part of the process of elaboration of its reports, the HLPE is organizing a consultation to seek inputs, suggestions, and comments on the present V0 draft. This open e-consultation will be used by the HLPE to further elaborate the report, which will then be submitted to external expert peer-reviewers, before finalization and approval by the HLPE Steering Committee.

This online consultation invites you to share your inputs on the development of a Code of Conduct for the Management of Fertilizers (CoCoFe). The aim of the CoCoFe is to assist member countries design policies and regulatory frameworks for the sustainable use of fertilizers.
 

We invite you to express your views and recommendations on national school food and nutrition programmes (SFNP), how to make them more inclusive, better integrated into food systems and supporting healthy diets and lifestyles from an early age. The outputs of this online consultation will help to better advocate sustainable healthy food systems by promoting multicomponent approaches to school food and nutrition programmes based on relevant national policy and legislation frameworks.

FAO’s Project “Developing Capacity for Strengthening Food Security and Nutrition in Selected Countries of the Caucasus and Central Asia” (funded by the Russian Federation), in collaboration with the Global Forum on Food Security and Nutrition, is pleased to invite you to share best practices and lessons learned on food security and nutrition policy implementation in the region of Europe and Central Asia.

Ahead of the 11th WTO Ministerial Meeting in Buenos Aires in December 2017, FAO and IFPRI, respectively through the FSN Forum and the IFPRI Food Security Portal, are joining forces to provide a platform to share knowledge and exchange views on the significance of the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference for Africa. This is a chance to raise awareness on the linkages between trade and food security, and on the significance of the WTO agreements with regard to these linkages.

The Committee on World Food Security invites you to share experiences and good practices on the use and application of the Voluntary Guidelines for the Right to Adequate Food in the Context of National Food Security (VGRtF). Input will contribute to monitoring progress on the use and application of the VGRtF and will be compiled in a document to be presented at CFS 45 in October 2018.

This online discussion aims at opening an exchange of ideas, good practices and lessons learned on how to sustain the impact of interventions that develop capacities and engage youth in agriculture.

Ending hunger and malnutrition is a challenge with sustainable agriculture and food systems at its very heart. Understanding the links between agriculture, food security and nutrition, and the environment is of central importance for any advancement towards the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals. This discussion aims to stimulate debate around this nexus and to feed into current research initiatives.
