Towards the Development of the Programme on Sustainable Food Systems (SFSP)

FAO and UNEP are jointly developing a programme on sustainable food systems under the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns (10YFP)As part of this process, a public consultation is being organized in order to take stock of relevant information on initiatives, collect comments of a draft concpt note and collect expressions of interest of entities to participate in the Programme.

Climate Change, Food Security and Nutrition

Climate change directly affects food and nutrition security of millions of people, undermining current efforts to address undernutrition. It impacts people’s livelihoods and lifestyles through different pathways, hitting the poorest the hardest. The objective of this consultation is to gain a better understanding of the impact of climate change and to identify possible measures to protect and/or improve nutrition.

Examining the linkages between trade and food security: What is your experience?

There are many ways in which trade agreements and rules may influence food security both positively and negatively.  The relationship is complex and views about the effect of trade rules and agreements on food security vary substantially. What is your experience? How have trade agreements and rules affected the four dimensions of food security? And how can coherence between food security measures and trade rules be ensured?

Street food and urban and periurban agriculture and horticulture: perspectives for a strategic coalition towards food security

The aim of this discussion is to share perspectives on actual and potential links between street food vending and urban and periurban agriculture and horticulture, analyzing if and in which way such links may represent the basis for possible strategies to enhance food security in urban areas.

The degree to which the Food Security and Nutrition information produced is actually used by decision makers, and influences policy making, remains unclear. Through this discussion we would like to explore the factors that contribute to our evidence and knowledge actually being used in policy making processes.

Nutrition education as a strategy to strengthen family farming households and improve people's diets

The aim of this forum’s discussion, organized jointly with the ICEAN network, is to identify potential action points and initiatives whereby nutrition education can improve the diet of family farmers and create demand for nutritious local produce among the general public, thus both generating income for farming households and enhancing the nutrition of the public.

Renew the commitment: Ten-Year Retrospective on the Right to Food Guidelines

10 years ago FAO member states produced and adopted The Right to Food Guidelines, which provide practical guidance on how the human right to adequate food can be realized. The goal of this online discussion is to learn from the first ten years of using the Right to Food Guidelines to get better for the future.
