Organized in the context of the International Year of Pulses 2016, this webinar hosted the FAO experts Teodardo Calles and Fernanda Grande who presented the benefits of pulses from an agro-ecological and nutritional perspective. The presentations of the two experts were followed by a question and answer session which allowed participants to engage in a brief round of discussion.
FAO’s Global Forum on Food Security and Nutrition (FSN Forum) is organizing the two-day Workshop “FSN Forum policy dialogues: contributing to food security and nutrition policy processes at country and regional level”, in Rome on 10-11 December 2015.
Extending social protection and risk management systems effectively to rural populations is often a challenge for government institutions in many developing countries. The High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition has recognized in its 2012 report the importance of involving non-state actors, including rural organizations, in the formulation and execution of social protection systems.
Over the next decades, climate change is going to add to the challenge of securing food and nutrition of a growing population. To raise awareness on this important issue and to contribute to the understanding of the impacts on food systems, the FSN Forum joined forces with the Mitigation of Climate Change in Agriculture (MICCA) Programme organized a live webinar.
The FSN Forum hosted a presentation of the book “Street Food. Culture, Economy, Health and Governance” in FAO, 9 December 2014. This book provides a comprehensive perspective on street food, on its immense cultural diversity and economic significance both in developing and developed countries.
A two-day, face-to-face workshop, involving key FSN Forum members and FAO colleagues active in knowledge sharing was held in Rome (Italy) on 12-13 December 2013. The purpose was to allow for a constructive exchange of ideas aimed at gathering inputs for the continuous development of the Forum in general and for the upcoming medium term strategy in particular.

The FSN Forum held its first “live”event on the occasion of Human Rights Day, 10th of December 2010, inviting Romebased members and friends to a presentation and discussion with George Kent, Professor of Political Science at the University of Hawai’i and active member of the FSN Forum.
