
The war in Ukraine has caused extensive damage and loss of life in the country. Nearly one-third of Ukrainians have been displaced and 5.6 million refugees, mostly women, have sought refuge in neighbouring countries and Europe. In each quarterly issue, the reader meets our real heroes and reads their stories: how communities, especially women from remote villages, strive to achieve a better life and how FAO together with various partners and governments stand hand-in-hand with them to achieve effective results. 6 pp.

Emerging evidence suggests that rural children, particularly older girls in low-income countries, are at risk of being withdrawn from school when weather-related disasters occur. Through the use of household and community panel survey data, this paper demonstrates the positive impacts of school feeding programmes (SFP) as an important tool to help improve school completion rates, educational advancement, and human capital formation in the context of a rapidly changing climate. 39 pp.
