This video explores an innovative schooling system known as Junior Farmer Field and Life Schools, set up by FAO and WFP in response to the orphan crisis in Africa.

Over the last decade, HIV/AIDS has had a devastating impact on southern Africa, where up to 80 percent of the population is dependant on small-scale agriculture for their food and livelihood.

By focusing on the intra-household dynamics of freshwater management, this video aims to raise awareness on the different priorities of rural women and men with respect to their use of freshwater resources.

Filmed in Zimbabwe and the United Republic of Tanzania, the video highlights the importance of rural men’s and women’s local knowledge to their livelihoods. Produced by FAO's LinKS Project.
