Rural Women in Europe and Central Asia

Rural women in Europe and Central Asia make up nearly 40 percent of the agricultural workforce, yet their work often remains invisible and undervalued.

This video highlights their critical role in agriculture and rural development, and calls for equal access to resources, knowledge and opportunities. Supporting women farmers is key to building more inclusive, resilient and efficient agrifood systems. 

Across the region, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) works with women farmers to strengthen skills, improve access to resources and support resilient livelihoods and communities.
