FAO in Geneva Youth Dialogue: Status of Youth in Agrifood Systems

The FAO Liaison Office in Geneva (LOG), in collaboration with the FAO Office for Youth and Women (OYW), through the World Food Forum (WFF) Global Youth Action Initiative, is launching the FAO in Geneva Youth Dialogue series with its first session on “The Status of Youth in Agrifood Systems”, organized in collaboration with the FAO Rural Transformation and Gender Equality Division (ESP).

With 1.3 billion people aged 15 to 24 worldwide, youth play an important role in the future of agrifood systems. This dialogue will highlight the findings of the FAO report The Status of Youth in Agrifood Systems, which highlights the important role of youth in transforming agrifood systems to improve food security, nutrition and economic opportunities. The session will also address the structural barriers young people, especially rural youth and young women, face in relation to employment, food security, resilience and inclusion.

The FAO in Geneva Youth Dialogue series aims to serve as a platform for exchange, collaboration and knowledge-sharing among young leaders, Member States, international organizations, civil society, academia and FAO technical divisions. The series seeks to strengthen dialogue on youth empowerment in agrifood systems in support of FAO’s mandate.
