FAO will convene special event on 19 May to celebrate the “International Day for Biological Diversity 2016”. It will explore the role of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture in sustaining people and their livelihood and mainstreaming plant biodiversity. It will be hosted by the FAO LOffice in Geneva and the Secretariat of the International Treaty on 19 May 2016, at 14:30 hrs. The celebration will focus on the Treaty as an instrument to assist low income food deficient countries by supporting their farming and local communities, reviewing the political and technical results achieved, and designing the future trajectory for the Treaty’s work.
